Bozo the Clown first airs.

The first nationally syndicated television show in the U.S., it airs on WHDH. It stars Frank Avruch, a Winthrop native and Boston University graduate, who continues in the role role until 1970. Avruch subsequently hosts The Great Entertainment and WCVB’s Man About Town.
